 The following information was submitted in May of 2006 by Terry Carpenter:
"Edwin B. Smith, portraitist and historical painter... must have traveled extensively in search of commissions, for he is known to have worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1815; to have been located in Troy, Ohio, in 1832; and to have moved on to New Orleans, the Crescent City, in 1841."
