| Born in Chicago, IL on July 21, 1896. The Sherman family settled in the San Diego area in 1905 as house builders in La Jolla and Coronado. Elizabeth established the county's first Girl Scout troop in 1917. She studied in Paris, New York and Santa Fe, and went on painting trips to North Africa and Spain. In 1942 she became Mrs. E. Mark Shellon and maintained homes in Coronado and La Jolla. She died in the latter on April 13, 1986. Primarily a portrait painter, she also painted still lifes (showing 500 of 861 characters). |
