| Mary Elizabeth Jacques Schleussner was born in Canada on July 10, 1881. Formerly of Connecticut, by 1920 Mary Elizabeth had married wealthy stockbroker, Otto W. Schleussner, and had settled in Los Angeles. She took up painting as therapy after a hand injury and soon established a studio on Mount Washington. As well as a painter, she was also an avid equestrian and active in the local high society scene. She became a competent painter of desert landscapes and adobes before her d (showing 500 of 1308 characters). |
