The following information was submitted in August of 2006 by the artist:Ella Sipho was born (1964) and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Her parents divorced early on when she was five years old. Being the oldest of three siblings she became very independent.
As a young artist, Sipho began her art career by painting junk items and transforming them into treasures. Sipho is a self-taught artist however, she attended the University of Columbia, in Columbia Missouri for one year studying arts & science in 1989. She continued painting while working full time office jobs in the Medical and Telecommunications field. It was while working at Sprint World Headquarters as a Human Resource Benefit Coordinator that she began pursuing her passion seriously to become a professional artist at the age of thirty-six.
Sipho’s focus is color exploration combined with liquid manipulation outside the main stream to create beauty, flow, and movement.
This process involves overlapping color by using flowing fluids, combined with brush strokes, finger strokes, physical rotation of canvas to create variance in flow and texture. Sipho has exhibited internationally.
