| Born in Ohio on July 10, 1893, by the 1930s Ethel Shearer had moved to northern California and settled in Corte Madera. While working as a secretary, she painted in her leisure.
Unmarried and a cancer victim, she died at the Marin County Farm & Hospital on May 4, 1952.
