This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Active in California from 1890 until his death in 1944, Frank Standish was born in England and moved to the San Francisco area in 1890 when he was age 30. He had his studio in San Francisco until the 1906 earthquake and fire and then moved to Berkeley where he set up a commercial art business.

He also did landscape painting, especially from his visits to the Santa Clara Valley and Marin County. In 1929, he painted a view of the Palo Alto home of President Herbert Hoover, which he gifted to the President's wife that same year.

HIs work is in the San Jose Historical Museum and the Oakland Museum.
