This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in London, England on March 28, 1860. Stone was a pupil of Richard Belt. He was active in London until ill health forced his move to Canada and finally to Los Angeles in 1900. He established a studio in the Blanchard Bldg where he produced medallion portraits and busts. He exhibited locally and was active in Los Angeles until his death on Aug. 13, 1939. Exh: San Antonio State Fair (1st prize); Calif. State Fair, 1900; Ruskin Art Club (LA), 1902-05; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909 (gold medal); Blanchard Gallery (LA), 1909; Panama-Calif. Int'l Expo (San Diego), 1915; SFAA, 1916; Calif. Liberty Fair, 1918. In: Lone Pine Plaza (E. H. Edwards); Lambeth Palace (London); CSL.
