This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Note submitted April 2005 from Lee Moorhead:

Frederick "King" Soldwedel was married to my sister Florence Moorshead Soldwedel. He died in 1957 while living in Nassau, Bahamas.

King was an outstanding Antibellum architect of many homes in Florida and the Bahamas.

His nickname of "King" came to him while he was living in the Bahamas by the natives there who called him the King !
Frederic Soldwedel, a marine painter, was born in New York City in 1886 and lived there until 1941. He studied in England, Italy, Greece and France and also spent time in California, indicated by a 1922 painting titled "California Yuccas". In 1930, he exhibited work at the Art Institute of Chicago.

During most of Soldwedel’s career he was based in NYC; however, he was the architect of many antebellum homes in Florida and the Bahamas.
