|  Born in Cody, Wyoming and living only in that state, he became a painter of western wilderness scenes, reflecting his love of the mountains and their inhabitants.
He graduated from Cody High School and then earned a degree in architecture from Montana State University in Bozeman. He practiced as an architect before becoming full-time artist in 1970.
