An artist, teacher and writer whose research specialty was contemporary
and historical Inuit/Eskimo art, George Swinton was a professor of art
at Smith College from 1950 to 1953, and then devoted the remainder of
his teaching career, beginning 1954, as professor of art at the
University of Manitoba, and from 1970, adjunct professor of
anthropology. He lived in Winnipeg, Canada.
Exhibition venues included the Winnipeg Art Gallery; 4 Canadian
Biennials; Montreal Spring Exhib (showing 500 of 707 characters). |
