| Born in Jackson, MI on July 1, 1884. Hazel Brayton studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and the AIC. Arriving in San Diego in 1923 with her husband Arthur Shoven, she soon became active in the local art scene. Primarily a still life painter, she also painted landscapes.
