| | Born in New York on Oct. 12, 1849. Soulé was two years old when she made the cross-country trek to California with her parents during the Gold Rush. She grew up in San Francisco and studied art at the School of Design. About 1890 she moved across the bay to Alameda where she remained until her death on Nov. 4, 1910. | Source:
