| From an upper class German immigrant family in New York City where the father was a Wall Street Banker, Henry Augustus Low Sand earned an LLB degree from Harvard University in 1898. In New York, he was a member of the Allied Artists.
In the early 1920s, having practiced law at 120 Broadway in New York City, he moved to Tucson, Arizona with his artist sister, Alice Low Sand (1870-1932), and two cousins.
