This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Herman Schwartz was a Philadelphia paper manufacturer, who was stricken with a heart attack and was forced to curtail his business activities. It was then and there, that he began his interest in art.
"I can recall an article in one of the Philadelphia Sunday newspaper supplements on Herman and the information was supplied by his wife, Rose. The article was in the early seventies and could go into much more detail. I remember two of his pictures were on the front cover of the supplement and several other photos were of the paintings hanging in Rose's apartment."
