Known in Chicago as primarily a portrait artist, Hermine J. Stellar was the daughter of Frank and Barbara Stellar. The family emigrated from Austria in 1895 (1930 census records state Czechoslovakia) and were naturalized in July of 1898.
Stellar was a student of the Art Institute of Chicago; graduating from there in 1905. She also continued her study there between 1909 and 1911. The artist was listed as an instructor for the Art Institute Summer Juvenile Department fo (showing 500 of 1195 characters). |
