The artist was born in 1923, but little is known about his early life.  He was descended from English parents who were strict Presbyterians.  His family name is derived from a rural and very beautiful section of the United Kingdom called. Shropshire.

Shropshire married and had two sons, living on Cherry Street in Milford, Connecticut, where he transformed a garage to serve as a studio.  Although he preferred to paint from nature, and did much painting outdoors “en pl (showing 500 of 2147 characters).
