| Born at Smith's Landing near Cincinnati, OH on Aug. 28, 1843. While studying art in Paris with L'Hermitte, Delance, and Callot, Isabel met painter Frederick Carl Smith whom she married in 1895. The Smiths lived in Washington, DC until 1917 when they settled in Pasadena. She painted miniature portraits of many notables in Europe and the U.S. Mrs. Smith was active as an artist until her death in Pasadena on Oct. 4, 1938.
