| | Born in Germany on Sept. 2, 1904 of Swiss parents. Schurch had settled in Beverly Hills by the 1920s and was a star football player for Occidental College. By 1937 he had gained fame in Los Angeles for his watercolors. With studios in Palm Springs and Hollywood, he decorated many homes and taverns with colorful depictions of Mexican subjects. Made wealthy by the invention of a football game, he moved to Evanston, IL where he remained until his demise on April 4, 1965.
