| Jaff Noël Seijas: Born in Tampa, Florida.
Encouraged by family members to paint. Studied at Atlanta College of
Art. Many travels abroad to Europe. First exhibition of drawings (1971)
at a gallery in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Began traveling to New
Mexico in 1978. Became a summer resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico. First
major showing in Santa Fe at the 1979 Santa Fe Festival of the Arts;
followed many showings at a gallery on Canyon Road. Began a serious
exploration of personal style in the 1980's, in an effort to produce
works of unique individuality. Also many attempts to merge the
visual-arts with the written word. These works include: The Journals of
Villa Mysteria, and The Jazz Abduction. A personal preference for
unusual background materials lead to experiments on antique vellum
documents (mostly European), antique books and letters. Thrust of work
mainly concerned with attempts to depict the complexity and depth of
the human personality. Jaff Seijas is otherwise known as Anchor Mejans.
