| | James L. Seawright was a pioneer of kinetic, electronic sculpture. At a lecture at the Guggenheim, he spoke of the difference between the understanding of technology and the understanding of everything else. He said that perhaps it's just that technology can be understood. However, his kinetic sculpture possesses a behavior that is unpredictable and shows that it is possible with technology to animate things, literally. |
