| Born in Milwaukee, WI on Aug. 20, 1906. After graduating from high school in Milwaukee, in 1926 Sabre moved to San Francisco where he remained for the rest of his life. Although a self-taught artist, he studied briefly at the CSFA where he met his future wife Marjorie Eakin. During the 1930s he did sculpture for the WPA and assisted Bufano and Victor Arnautoff on local projects such as the friezes on the Maritime Museum and bas reliefs at Washington High School.
