At the Maryland Institute College of Art, from which she earned a BFA in 1976, Janet Snell studied painting and was influenced by German Expressionists such as Nolde, Munch, Bacon, Kollwitz, and Ernst. Her recent paintings intend to put the psychology of emotion under the light.
Snell makes her home in Akron, Ohio where she collaborates on art and poetry projects with other artists and continues her explorations in painting, drawing, linocuts and publishing.
