Post War California artist, Joan Savo was active in the San Francisco North Beach area in the 1950's, and later on the Monterey Peninsula.

Solo Exhibitions: California Palace of the Legion of Honor, 1964.

Selected Group Exhibitions: 79th Annual Painting Exhibition of the San
Francisco Art Association at the San Francisco Museum of Art, 1960; Fifth
Winter Invitational, California Palace of The Legion of Honor, San
Francisco, 1964

Public Collections: Santa Barbara Museum of Art; Walnut Creek Civic Arts
Center; Kaiser Center, Oakland; Oakland Museum; Monterey Peninsula Museum of
Art; City of Viborg, Denmark.

Literature: Thomas Albright, Art in the San Francisco Bay Area, 1945-1980.

David J Carlson, Carlson Gallery, California. Carlson's specialty is Post-World War II California artists, and he is preparing a catalogue for a 2004 traveling exhibition of these artists to several California museums.
Joan Savo worked in a broadly brushed figurative style. In the 1970s, she practiced geometric abstraction.
