This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Santa Rosa, CA on Sept. 14, 1902. Stump earned an M.A. degree at UC Berkeley where he was a pupil of Ray Boynton, Hope Gladding, Eugen Neuhaus, Perham Nahl, and Guest Wickson. At age 22 he settled in Sausalito on San Francisco Bay where he remained. He was an active member of the local art scene and for 46 years worked as head librarian at the Mechanics' Institute. Stump received many prizes over the years for his oils and watercolors. He died in Marin County, CA on Sept. 3, 1977. Exh: SFAA, 1924-32; Modern Gallery (SF), 1926; Oakland Art Gallery, 1933; Western WC Show (LA), 1934.
