| A native of Troy, New York, John Saxton lived 94 years and was known for his pastoral landscapes. He was a deaf mute and attended the Gallaudet School for the Deaf in Washington DC. He married Harriet Rowe of Auburn, Maine, and the couple went to France where Saxton studied with Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury. He had a painting accepted at the Paris Salon and then returned to the United States, living at Seaford and Westport, Connecticut. He was active in art circl (showing 500 of 906 characters). |
