Much of the following is from the artist:

A painter and art instructor, John Stone was born in Presidio, Texas, and lived in Fort Worth. He studied at the Fort Worth Museum of Fine Arts, Texas Christian University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

He taught watercolor workshops at Texas Christian University. John Stone also studied under longtime friend of 40+ years, Ronald Thomason.

John is listed in Who's Who in American Fine Art for 1973 and 1974.


The Borjorne' Egli Award, 34th Miniature Painters, Sculptures and Graver
Society In Washington, D.C.

First Prize for Drawing at the Heritage Hall Museum of Art in Fort Worth, TX.

The Elizabeth Curtis Award in the 35th Annual Painters, Sculptors Graver
Society in Washington, D.C.

The Beggs Award for watercolor at the Snyder Museum of Fine Arts in Snyder, TX.- 1971.

John has collectors over the United States, England, Old Mexico, and Peru.
His collectors are individuals, and including Texas Christian University,
Lockheed Martin, and many banks and offices.
