John (Hanns) Skolle—artist, explorer, teacher, writer—was born in 1903 in Plauen, Germany. He was brought up in a circus in Czech Bohemia and the Sudeten region (his father created a school for acrobats in Prague and eventually became a teacher, a painter and a writer). He studied at the KunstAkademie in Leipzig. When he was barely 20, an uncle unexpectedly appeared in his life and played his destiny by (showing 500 of 4209 characters). |
