| A resident of Philadelphia and Paris, he was a member of the Art Students League of Philadelphia and there studied with Herman Deigendesch. He also attended the Academy Colarossi in Paris, and in New York was a student of William Merritt Chase.
Most of his career was spent in Philadelphia.
