Subject matter for which known: Animals, Nature, Horses, Birds, Dogs, Cats, Landscapes, and Florals.
Style of work: Impressionist, Realist, and Expressionist
Artist Biography:
Joni has been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her mother gave Joni all the paper, crayons, and tempera paints that she could use trying to keep her art off the walls and sidewalk.
By the time Joni went to first grade she had a collection of art gave artwork as gifts to first teacher. In third grade Joni won the school art contest for her age level. Her notebooks were covered and filled with drawings, and she took all the art classes her school had.
Jonis desire to make artwork grew stronger with the passing years. By fourteen she knew that she wanted to be an artist. The high school counselors told her that art didn't pay. But to her that was like telling a seal to forget the sea. Art is so much more than a job to Joni and she is willing to do what is needed in order to make art.
Jonis art skills come from art lessons read in many art books and lessons form local artist. But mostly her art talent comes from just doing it. She feels that art is an action that must happen over and over again. The joy of art is in the doing of it. To Joni making art is close to meditating; a focusing of ones energy to all else fades to a calm blur.
"Composing art is like dancing with the earths splendor and attempting to enhance it. Art magnifies beauty," says Joni Solis.
