This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jorge Spiropulo began painting with oils at an early age as an expression and outlet for his intense passions and emotions. To date, all of the works of this self-taught artist incorporate a broad palette of robust colors with a dreamy quality, and clearly illustrate a strong Cubist influence. The size of his pieces range from 24" x 36" to 96" x 48"

Jorge has continued loyalty to oil, and his work is best described as abstract yet direct, with contents ranging from love and nature, to the complex nature of man and his seemingly unquenchable thirst for war. One can observe a glimpse of Jorge's perspective on life, depending upon the series at which the viewer is reviewing. His canvases convey his impressions of people, current events, and nature. Whatever his intent, Jorge has developed techniques to manipulate the oils for a desired outcomes of thick and chunky or light and watery, and the finish either matte or glossy, depending upon his intent of the piece.

Although the majority of Jorge's work is an outspring of an emotion he has and continues to produce commissioned paintings.

About the Artist:

As a child, Jorge and his family experienced many hardships living in Argentina, and eventually the hope of a better life brought him as a young adult, along with his mother and sister, to the United States. Painting for Jorge has always been an outlet for his problems as well as a release for the conflicting emotions he felt as a child, experiencing great loss, transitions, politics and the unconditional love of his family. Painting continues to allow Jorge to release his feelings as they relate to his difficult childhood, life transitions, great loss, politics, and love.
