Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joseph Santore has established a reputation from studios in New York City for large-scale narratives with interior settings. He incorporates both figurative and abstract styles, and quite often pushes the figures forward within the space.
He has also done a lot of still lifes in rich, painterly way, but in the 1980s returned primarily to figure work. Many of his paintings show evocative situations, which is his method of pulling the viewer into the pai (showing 500 of 1749 characters). |
