Wildlife painter Joshua Spies only paints animals he can observe in their natural habitat. Spies travels around the continental United States, Alaska, Canada and South Africa observing animals for his artwork.
A South Dakota native, Spies has been influenced and taught by other great wildlife artists from his state, Terry Redlin, John Wilson and John Green.
