Recognized as an Intermedia artist creating collage, sculptural,
conceptual and mixed-media art, Joyce Cutler-Shaw has also been an
author of more than thirty publications, as well as the director and
interviewer for art-related television programming.
Cutler-Shaw was born in 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended
New York University where she received her degree in 1953 and one year
later began studying at the graduate level at Columbia University in
