Kay R. Sluterbeck (1947- ) was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She
showed artistic talent at a young age, and received basic instructions
from her mother, who was a skilled amateur artist. The family
moved to Van Wert, Ohio, in late 1959. She studied under artist
Richard Dunn from 1960-64 and began taking paid commissions shortly
thereafter. In the late 60s she took a course in commercial art
from Art Instruction Schools, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
