Born in 1933 in Boston, Massachusetts, Kimber Smith studied at the Art Students League in New York City. He taught at the Dayton Art Institute from 1966 to 1968 and was artist in residence at the University of Kentucky in 1972.
He was an Abstract Expressionist painter and had his first exhibition in New York at the New Gallery in 1951 with artist Joan Mitchell. In 1954, he accompanied his wife, Gabrielle Staub, a correspondent for Life magazine to Paris, France, whe (showing 500 of 937 characters). |
