Biography from Wendt Gallery:
| Ever since she began taking private art lessons in junior high school, Texas painter Lindy Schillaci has been involved in the art world in some way. She earned a fine arts degree in painting and ceramics from Southwest Texas State University, then headed to the Parsons School of Design to study fashion illustration. She has returned to painting, taking workshops with landscape painter Albert Handell and still-life painters David Leffel and Sherrie McGraw.
Today she paints an occasional plein-air landscape, but intimate still lifes are her primary focus. When it comes to still-life subjects, Schillaci has painted an array of fruits and vegetables. "A few things come from outside; we have a pear tree with some funky-shaped pears, and also peppers that my stepson grows" she says.
The artist is attracted to the vibrancy of color and the many different textures she finds in these objects. "I love the way light goes across them and the richness in the color of the shadows that are created", she says. "the fruits are so beautiful, and they come that way naturally".
