| | Born in California on April 24, 1873. Sherwood studied in San Francisco at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute in 1897-98. Following service in WWI, he settled in San Diego and for 39 years taught in the public schools there. Upon retirement, he moved to Pasadena where he remained until his demise on July 7, 1961.
