Virtually unknown during his lifetime, Soutter's work all but fell into oblivion after his death. In 1936 his nephew, the famed French architect LeCorbusier, organized an exhibition of Soutter's work in Connecticut. But it was not until 1961 when Ernest Manganel, Curator of the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts in Lausanne, organized a large retrospective exhibition in which all the rich variety of Soutter's work could (showing 500 of 1553 characters). |
