| Born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 2, 1879, Louis Samish was the son of
artist Robert Samish. The younger Samish studied with his father
and was an established artist by 1902.
During World War I he was employed by the U.S. government to draw
cartoons to promote the sale of war bonds. A lifelong resident of
his native city, he died on March 18, 1963.
