This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted September 2003, is from William P. Stanton, son of the artist:

Louise Parsons was born in 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William E. and Myra (Matthews) Parsons. She attended the Girls Latin School in Chicago and the Holmquist School at New Hope, Pennsylvania. From 1933 to 1935, Louise studied portraiture at the Yale School of Fine Arts in New Haven, Connecticut.

In 1936, she married the late Francis R. Stanton, Architect. In Chicago she studied with the Russian Sculptor Alexander Archipenko and attended night classes at the Institute of Design. During the summers from 1945 to 1985, the Stantons vacationed at Aspen, Colorado, and the mountain environment had a significant influence on her work.

Louise Stanton's paintings and drawings are abstract and derive mainly from images of nature collected from long ago that linger in the unconscious to emerge spontaneously later. She works in various media - oils, spray-cans, watercolors, inks, colored pencils, and cray-pas. Her studio is in her home in Winnetka, Illinois.

Louise Stanton has had several one-man exhibitions and has been included in many group shows across the country. Her work is in the collection of the Harris Bank in Chicago, the St. Charles Public Library, and in many private collections.
