| Louise Schacht was born on September 13, 1908 in New York City.
The artist's parents were violinists. Her father, also a lawyer
and art dealer, ran Schacht Galleries on 23 East 64 Street, Manhattan,
New York City. She had a privileged childhood in Flushing, New
York and lived with such treasures as a twelfth-century Madonna, beaded
slippers once owned by a Chinese prince, and a painting, A Rainy Day in London by James Whistler. The environment had an ambience (showing 500 of 2760 characters). |
