Known in the art world as Mac Schweitzer, this artist was born Mary Alice Cox in 1921. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where she drew countless pictures of horses. She was fascinated by the West and when the rodeo was in town, she would spent time at the arena, conversing with the participants and sketching.
She attended the Cleveland School of Art ( now Cleveland Institute of Art) on scholarship, but quit school in 1943 to marry Jack Schweitzer, who had enlisted in the Army. (showing 500 of 978 characters). |
