Maude Whitney Schumacher (1892-1972)
Born on May 28, 1892 in Iowa, she developed a passion for painting early on, winning prices for her watercolors at the age of 12. As an adult, she worked as a professional photographer in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida. She married Charles J. Schumacher in Wisconsin and when they moved to California with their young son, Schumacher found herself in the position of being able to pursue her painting.
