Marion Sanford was essentially a self-taught bronze sculptor of bas reliefs, portraits and figures, though she did briefly study direct carving techniques at the Art Students League in New York City, and with Brenda Putnam. She also studied painting at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
Born in 1904 in the province of Ontario in Canada, Sanford grew up in Warren, Pennsylvania. For a time, she supported herself as a stage and costume designer, though she did sell portrait busts. Sanfo (showing 500 of 2144 characters). |
