| Born in Chicago, IL on May 13, 1877. Martha Hoit spent her childhood in Wyoming, California, Colorado, and Hawaii. She studied at the AIC, with Randall Davey, and in Paris for two years with André Lhote and Maria Blanchard. During the 1930s she and husband Harry Simpson lived in San Francisco and Hollywood after having lived in New York. Mrs. Simpson died in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 1955.
