| Martin C. Shallenberger was born in San Francisco, CA in 1912. Shallenberger was the son of an Army officer and led a peripatetic life until settling in Louisville, Kentucky. He studied at Corcoran Art Gallery (Washington, DC) and in New York City at the National Academy of Design and Art Students League. He currently lives in Lombard, Illinois.
