Mary Clare Sherwood was born in Lyons, New York and died in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was a painter that mostly worked in the medium of oil or watercolor. She mainly painted landscapes of the region were she was living.
Ms. Sherwood studied in New York at the Art Students League with Julian Alden Weir and William Merritt Chase and at Woodstock, New York with Kenyon Cox. Her studies took her to Europe to study with Conrad Fehr and Curt Hermann in Berlin and F. Edwin Scott in Paris.(showing 500 of 958 characters). |
