Mary Crease Sears engaged in all stages of the book-making processing, and was known as a cover designer. At a young age Mary Crease Sears wanted to be an architect, but instead studied art at the MFA School. There, Sears became interested in the art of the book and continued after graduation to study traditional book-making in Paris. In France, she met Agnes St. John, who became her long-time friend and collaborator on many projects. Sears continued her training in London and then returned to B (showing 500 of 1200 characters).
