BIOGRAPHY
When I was eight years old, in the summer of 1974, I was struck by a small
landing airplane while playing outside with friends near the rural airfield
across the street from my house. The airplanes propeller struck my upper
left arm, dragged me over 150 feet, and subsequently removed it. The surgeons in Lincoln, Nebraska were able to re-attach the arm through a
series of operations; however, blood flow to my left hand was insufficient, and the hand was amputated during one of several surgeries. I was left handed before the accident; however, through the support of my parents and siblings, I was able to lead a happy childhood.

Much of my art deals with trauma and healing. Paintings such as 'Join Hands'
and 'Fond Object' deal directly with my disability and experiences as being
disabled.

I was born in Omaha, Nebraska September 10,1966 and am an American/US Citizen.

I am a self-taught artist and I paint every day. I like to use intense colors and sharp lines to tell a moving story. I like the way cardboard holds oil paint and the way canvas burns my fingers and sands my nails as I scratch its surface. I enjoy the smell of linseed oil and turpentine as they fill my studio space. Painting takes all my energy and effort. It is the most important thing I do.
