He attended Cleveland Institute of Art class of 1928, winner of many awards and a scholarship to the Slade Art School in London which he attended 1924-1929. He exhibited at many of the Cleveland Museum of Art's May shows, most notably in 1946 when he received the first prize for three biblical subjects, Jacob's Dream, Good Samaritan, and Deposition.
